On Friday 21st of June we held a ceremony to mark the raising of our sixth green flag. This was a very proud occasion as our school also won the award for National Global Citizenship litter and Waste school of the year 2019. Newly elected Green Party Councillor Peter Kavanagh attended our ceremony and raised our flag. The whole school celebrated with a garden picnic and disco.
The fifth classes travelled .into the Irish Aid offices in Clonmel Street to participate in a workshop about Global Goals. They enjoyed the interactive stories, singing in Swahili and participating in a drumming session. They stopped off in the Iveagh Gardens for a picnic lunch. Students from fifth class were given the opportunity to create and design some artwork and crafts for the SEED organic school garden at the Bord Bia Bloom festival held in the Phoenix Park. They were then invited to attend the festival where they received a guided tour of the completed school garden and the festival. This was an amazing opportunity and the children had a fantastic experience. They even managed to bump into President Michael D. Higgins.
