Music Generation were filming in our school on Thursday the 31st of January for their website. They observed violin and orchestra practices and interviewed staff and students about their experience with music.
St. Ronan's school orchestra performed a medley of Christmas tunes as well as some pieces they have been working on.
Children from sixth class wrote and produced their own Christmas play. There were many interesting celebrity characters, great sound effects and fantastic set design. Children from other classes attended performances of this very successful production. From Star Readers to Star Writers
The sixth class students had a very busy term working on a short story to publish into a book. Kathryn Crowley from Emu courses online came in and told us about our journey towards writing a book. We first planned what we were going to write about in our copies, then we showed our teachers. The teachers played a big part in this, helping us edit and make sure our ideas flowed together. They also gave us good ideas if we were unable to think of something. We were all able to work at home as well as at school with google classroom, which was great. It took us four weeks from writing to editing to the final story. In the end it was an amazing experience, being able to write a book with all my friends in Sixth Class has made this something I will treasure forever. By Tyra Kane Sixth Class Sixth class had a great time during Science Week creating a place to live on a new planet. They used recycled materials from Recreate. Thank you to The Gaiety School of Acting for running the workshop.
The children had a fantastic time completing St. Ronan's first Monster Mile Plus challenge in their Hallowe'en costumes. Thanks to all the children in the choir for their beautiful singing at the confirmation and during the year. As a treat the children were brought to the village for a visit to the Round Tower Centre, McDonalds and the playground! Our hillwalking club went to Glendalough for the final walk of this school year. A group of 15 children and 5 teachers completed a tough walking trail, hiking above the lakes on a glorious sunny day. The views and scenery were amazing and the group had a fabulous evening.
As part of horse awareness week the children from fifth and sixth class attended an information workshop in the hall. There were representatives from DSPCA, Clondalkin Equine Centre, Race Academy, Dunsink Horse Club and a vet from UCD. The workshop covered how to look after a horse and lots of other information which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Some students have been attending Clondalkin Equine Centre as a result.
